I have always desired a home birth. My first was not a candidate for that so I prayed that if I have another opportunity that I am able to fulfill my dream. With my last pregnancy everything turned out great, but my baby was growing up at a faster pace than anticipated…which created a little anxiety around a home birth. I had initially hired Katrina as a doula, as I had already contracted a midwife. From the first time I talked to her she gave me so much confidence and ease. She had mentioned to me that she is also a midwife. I knew then that she was the right person to support me through this. Fast forward to several weeks later, my ultrasound revealed a baby over 10lbs and was recommended to have an immediate caesarean, as I was at 40 weeks. My whole world shattered; my dream was turning into dust. I reached out to the midwife, and she decided not to help me anymore hearing such medical advice. My heart was broken, my husband scared, my dreams shattered…I didn’t know what to do, so I reached out to Katrina for advice. The first thing she said was: big babies don’t scare me! I wanted to laugh but I also wanted to cry. She said she can be my midwife and support me through this. I had to think about it because how could I trust someone else so late in the process as I was already 40 weeks. As she advised, I sat quietly with myself and realized that I had trusted her before I even met her in person, and she is truly the only person who didn’t fear my situation but embraced it and offered to make my dream come true. I made the decision to have her as a midwife and 2 days later, my baby boy, weighing 11lbs 4 oz was born at home with Katrina and her wonderful assistant Ester. The 2 of them coached me through the process so well! They were truly a gift from God. Because of them I got my dream home birth and a wonderful and healthy baby.

Will forever recommend her services to anyone looking for a midwife and I hope to remain a friend with her for the years to come. She is my hero!!

You are in great hands with her!!!

If you’re reading this because you’re looking for a midwife, take this as your sign to look no further. Katrina Goodman was the best choice I made during my first pregnancy, and I plan on hiring her for my next pregnancies as well! Katrina made me feel more and more comfortable after each prenatal visit as a first-time mom. I was able to ask ALL the questions and not only did Katrina answered them without judgment, but she also provided in-depth detailed answers that even made my husband feel more relaxed and comfortable with my decisions to have an un-medicated birth at home. Her answers alone showed how much knowledge and experience she has. The best part is Katrina treated me like an individual and I was able to have access to someone who cares, listens, and provided support when I needed it. The relationship built with her throughout my pregnancy was invaluable when it came to delivering our son. It’s because of her I was able to successfully deliver naturally and without unnecessary medical interventions. Katrina is a rockstar and you’ll be blessed to have her in your corner!!

When my wife was asking/telling me she wanted to do a home birth, I was unsure about it. After her sending numerous videos and a lot of information, I was curious. After searching social media for someone to assist in guiding us along the path and no luck, Katrina responded to my wife. We gave her a call one evening and she was completely open on how to go about everything. She guided and educated us on what could happen, things to look for, what to expect, and so much more. After hiring her, she wasn’t just someone we hired, she became close to us and really was there for everything. She wanted the best for our family and was supportive of what we wanted. She was strict enough to make sure our baby boy was heathy, and my wife was doing the right things during pregnancy(even though my wife fought it a few times). She always stayed behind us but was honest about concerns she had or even telling us without following her guidance, things might not go our way. After finally getting things better and within a safe range for Katrina’s numbers and all reviews from other doctors, Katrina was happy with how things were going and let us know. She told us everything we needed to know getting closer to the day and gave us a list of everything we would need for her to help. The month of our son’s due date she followed up more and helped calm us as first-time parents even. I thought I would be a nervous wreck like most first time fathers but after remembering what Katrina told us I relaxed A LOT. She had no problem answering text messages or phone calls at anytime of day/night. Even day of early labor she answered on first call. She calmed my wife down and a few hours later was there with us. She stayed professional and made sure everyone was ok. She never rushed anything, even comforting my wife along the way. The hours leading up to our boys delivery, she would communicate enough to make sure I was ok and there was nothing wrong, even if there were small hiccups along the way. Final moments of him arriving she immediately handed our boy to my wife. Comforted her and continue to check on her and him to make sure all was great. She never pushed anyone aside and was ok with me being in the way sometimes. After cutting his cord and I was able to hold him for the first time, she never stopped what she needed to do. She helped my wife and after it all came to a rest she checked him out more and gathered all his information. She gave us all the time we needed with our son and continues to check in on us somehow. Katrina is amazing at what she does. If anyone needs assistance, I would highly recommend her and know she will be there for them no different than how she was with us. I cannot thank her enough for being there for this wonderful moment.

We love Katrina!!! She is honest, kind, and super caring with her clients. To me it was very important for my midwife to be a believer and so that played a huge role in my birth. She makes you feel comfortable right away and doesn’t ever make you feel like a transaction or a simple prenatal visit check on the box type of thing! She listens and gives advice if you ask for it. I felt at peace having her as my midwife and my husband did too and supported me in it. We were very new to the whole having a home birth and a midwife. She was very patient and educated us on things we wouldn’t have thought of before that really changed our perspective in a positive way. My husband and I can truly say that she went above and beyond in her care for us during my pregnancy, in labor/birth, and postpartum. I will definitely be contacting her for all of my pregnancies!!

We recently had the privilege of working with Katrina Goodman for the second time, and once again, she surpassed all expectations. From the moment we met her, it was evident that she was not only incredibly knowledgeable and professional but also deeply committed to supporting our family on both professional and personal levels.

Throughout the entire pregnancy and birth process, she was a constant source of guidance and reassurance. No question or concern was too big or small for her to address, and her calm demeanor helped alleviate any anxieties we had along the way. She truly went above and beyond to ensure that we felt empowered and informed every step of the journey.

Katrina’s unwavering support and expertise were invaluable as we navigated the challenges of those early weeks and months of our post partum journey. Whether it was helping us with breastfeeding, providing emotional support, or simply lending a listening ear, she was there for us every step of the way.

What sets Katrina apart is her ability to become not just a service provider, but a cherished member of our family. Her genuine care and dedication have made a lasting impact on our lives, and we are forever grateful for her presence during such a pivotal time.

I had the privilege of being coached by Katrina during the pandemic for the birth of my third child, and I cannot overstate the impact she had on my birth experience. From our very first meeting, she radiated warmth, knowledge, and a deep sense of understanding about the intricacies of childbirth. She felt it was important to not only support me, but include and support my husband during the process. Katrina consistently provided invaluable emotional, physical, and educational support, always ensuring we felt informed and empowered in our choices. Her unwavering dedication to our needs made her presence in the birthing room not just helpful but absolutely indispensable. The doctor and medical staff even complimented her for letting them do their jobs, while she did her own.Katrina’s vast experience and genuine passion for her work are evident in every interaction. She possesses a rare blend of professionalism and genuine compassion, which eased our anxieties and made us feel supported and understood. She not only guided us through the myriad of decisions surrounding childbirth but also celebrated our little victories and reassured us during challenging moments.Katrina wasn’t just there for the birth; she was a lifeline after. I went through a scary postpartum hemorrhage hours after she left. She wasn’t allowed to return back to the hospital because of Covid rules, but distance didn’t stop her. Even when the medical staff was dismissive, Katrina was right there, helping me and my husband through that nightmare. As a woman of color, I can’t express how grateful I am for her taking my health seriously.  She’s been an absolute blessing.I wholeheartedly recommend Katrina to anyone seeking a knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated doula. Her guidance was the cornerstone in making our childbirth experience positive and memorable. Thank you Katrina!

Katrina is an absolute gift and I am so thankful we had her as part of our birth experience. After having a traumatic birth with my first, which then led to a beautiful and redemptive natural birth with my second, I knew I wanted the support of a doula for my third baby. I had received Katrina’s name from a friend who had had her as doula support for her first baby, and had sung her praises. I had learned from my first experience working with a doula that it is such a highly personal decision to make; having someone present for some of the most vulnerable moments of your life makes the decision weighty. After meeting Katrina, I knew she was a great match. Knowledgeable, passionate, kind, even keeled, gracious… so many other words I can use to describe her. I could tell from our first interaction that she was dedicated and devoted to providing women a wonderful birthing experience as well as a supported postpartum journey.

Though my third birth proved to be a bit unexpected in that I went in for an induction, Katrina was there every step of the way. She was calm when I was anxious, informative when we needed to make decisions and an immense emotional and physical support. I felt a ton of confidence and relief knowing she had recently finished her midwifery training, so she had a plethora of medical knowledge and advice as well. She was there with us from early labor through delivery, and stayed for a while afterwards to ensure all was well and help with baby as needed. She was such a big piece of the birth story, and I’m so grateful. Anyone who has Katrina on their birth team will be incredibly blessed by her.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with an exceptional doula who completely exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we met Katrina Goodman, we knew we had found someone truly special. Her commitment to the safety and well-being of both myself and our baby was unwavering, and her knowledge and relationships within the medical arena of birthing were truly remarkable.

One of the things that struck us most about this doula was her availability. No matter the time of day or night, she was always there for me. Whether it was answering my countless questions, providing reassurance during moments of doubt, or simply offering a listening ear, she made herself readily available throughout the entire journey. This level of commitment and support meant the world to us and gave us the peace of mind we needed during such an important and transformative time in our life.

What truly set Katrina apart, however, was her incredible spirit. She had a calming yet empowering presence that instantly put me at ease. Her ability to coach and guide me through the birthing process was truly remarkable. With her by my side, I felt a renewed sense of confidence and strength. She believed in my ability to bring our child into the world and her unwavering support made all the difference.

Not only was she a fantastic coach, but she also provided invaluable insights and recommendations throughout my pregnancy and delivery. Her knowledge and expertise were evident in every conversation we had. She had a way of explaining things that made complex concepts easy to understand, and her recommendations were always thoughtful and well-informed. We felt empowered and informed every step of the way, thanks to her passion for her work and her dedication to staying up-to-date with the latest research and practices.

It’s clear that Katrina is incredibly passionate about her role. Her genuine love for being a doula shines through in everything she does. It’s not just a job for her; it’s a calling. This passion is infectious and it made me even more excited and motivated about my own birthing experience. I truly believe that her passion and dedication to her craft are what make her such an exceptional doula.

Working with Katrina was an absolute blessing. Her understanding of the importance of safety, her strong relationships within the medical community, her availability, calming yet empowering spirit, her coaching abilities, reassuring nature, insightful recommendations, and passionate approach to being a doula are unmatched. My husband and I, are forever grateful for her support and guidance during this incredible journey. If you’re looking for a doula who goes above and beyond, I cannot recommend her highly enough.

She will definitely be part of our journey with baby #2!

I have now welcomed Katrina to both of my deliveries. Both experiences were very different – one a traditional hospital birth the other a home birth with breech presentation. The first time around her support was very hands on and physical. She helped reposition my daughter to get labor progressing. At my son’s birth there wasn’t much time for hands on. Her support was in the form of her knowledge and experience. When our midwife was not supportive of our birth plan, she used her connections to put us in touch with a home birth midwife in our community.

Katrina patiently answered all my questions and her support was invaluable. Should we choose to grow our family again in the future, I will absolutely be reaching out to her.

Hiring a doula. I’ve heard about it throughout the years but never really paid attention to it. This time around, I wanted to do a home birth because I’ve had other deliveries, so why not try something new? Plus I had a friend that just raved about doing a home birth and just how amazing her doula (Katrina) was. Well, being the fact that I’ve never had an unmedicated birth, I needed all the support I can get. I also wanted a room of women that could read me and anticipate my needs without me having to say anything (I’ve got one of the best husbands out there, but this was way out of his league).

Having Katrina during my pregnancy and labor was a game changer. Not only was she responsive but she was confident, knowledgeable and brought me SO MUCH PEACE! She helped me to believe in myself. She gave me facts and truths which debunked my fears. Being a mom herself I was nervous about her readiness of being there for me. But from the time I sent her the first text with the first contraction, until even days after my son was born, she was there for me and I felt like I was the only person in her life.

During my labor she made sure things that I needed or would have soon wanted were provided without me even having to say anything. Her presence alone brought me so much peace and confidence. I knew I could do this and be the bad a$$ I was created to be. Her hands! Her hands have been blessed by God himself, and whatever oil she used while rubbing my achy body was just pure heaven.

Bottom line, I regret not having Katrina at all my other labors. I KNOW she would have fought for me in the hospital with my other babies and it would have taken the pressure off my husband of having to be a mind reader/fight for something that he knew nothing about. I have come from “what’s the purpose of a doula?” To “OMG! Don’t have a baby without one!”

Every expectant mother deserves a Katrina during their pregnancy and during their birthing experience, especially first time mommas or high risk mommas. I reached out to Katrina after a long history of infant loss, miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies.

Katrina has a wealth of knowledge about all things pregnancy and babies. My husband and I were better able to make well informed decisions with the information Katrina gave us. She offered information from all sides of the argument when it came to newborn shots, circumcision, birthing preparation, etc. Doctors tend to be very one sided so it’s extremely helpful to have someone who only has your best interest in mind. My husband was relieved to know that he would only have one job during my labor & delivery: to be there to support me. He didn’t have to worry about keeping up with my birth plan or making sure the doctors were honoring our wishes. Katrina really lifted a huge weight off of our shoulders.

The best part about having Katrina as our certified Doula was having someone to reach out to during those freak out moments when web MD would scare you into thinking the worst. I could text Katrina when I noticed something off during my pregnancy or when my baby wasn’t latching correctly during breastfeeding and she was always so helpful and patient with me.

We didn’t need a c-section but it’s a nice bonus to know that if we did, she would’ve been allowed in the room during the times when my husband wasn’t. She was also considered part of the birthing team so both mother and husband were still allowed to be at my labor and delivery post-COVID.

I will definitely need Katrina for all of my future pregnancies and she is the first recommendation when a friend tells me they’re expecting!

Katrina, Our hearts our full 💛 We can’t even begin to fully thank you for the role you played in this amazing experience. I literally can’t imagine trying to do that without you! You’re wonderful at what you do and we are forever thankful. You really provided the guidance it would take to do a fully unmedicated birth. Even though we were met with forks in the road during labor and decisions had to be made that were not in line with my original plan, we had the best experience under the conditions… thanks in large part to you! Katrina, what a joy it was for us to have you as the doula for our birth! We truly could not have anticipated how helpful you would be to us during this exciting but challenging time. Your expertise was felt not only during labor itself but also in the days prior and even the time after birth. But what has stood out most is your friendliness, your care, and your compassion throughout this beautiful experience. You provided excellent support, and we look forward to having you assist with our future babies. We are so grateful to have found you!

I hired Katrina for the birth of my third child (older 2 were born in another state.) We planned for an unmedicated, low-intervention VBAC in the hospital. Throughout my labor she was a wonderfully calm and supportive presence. I cannot have asked for a more peaceful labor. However, my son surprised all of us by crowning bottom first! I fully expected to be whisked away for an emergency C-section at that point when Katrina grabbed my hand and told me “just because this is not how it is usually done does not mean it can’t be done.” Those were the exact words I needed to hear in that moment. She helped me stay grounded and powerfully connected to my body, even as the room flooded with medical staff, and I went on to have a vaginal breech birth. I have worked with other doulas in the past, but none as intuitive as Katrina. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

It’s challenging to put into words how much Katrina’s support meant to me before, during, and after my natural labor and water birth experience, but I’m going to try. Having spoken over the phone a handful of times and meeting in person for my prenatal visit once, Katrina naturally should have felt like merely an acquaintance in the delivery room. So far from the case, she felt like a close friend who I had known and trusted for years. She brought a calming yet powerful presence of support into arguably the most intimate and vulnerable experience of my life. She is so wise and knew exactly what to do and how to encourage in times of pain and what felt like helplessness. Looking back, we can’t imagine welcoming our first child into this world alongside anyone else. Since delivery, she’s continued to support me by taking the time to answer any of my questions with an uplifting spirit of, “Give yourself grace…you and your baby are both learning.” Katrina, we love you and are so thankful for you!

Despite an ”easy” pregnancy, I can’t really say I loved being pregnant. What I will say is that hands down the most empowering experience in my life was bringing our daughter into this world with the birth that I wanted. Everyone has their own idea of what they hope their delivery experience will be, and however you personally choose to go about it, you will benefit from the aid of a doula as skilled as Katrina.

Katrina’s assistance with pain management allowed my husband to freely support me emotionally without worrying about anything else. But what’s more, Katrina recognized the symptoms of poor positioning of our baby’s head that was preventing my dilation from progressing even though I was having strong contractions. She helped us get her repositioned and things immediately began to progress. After delivery, she was able to be with our daughter during her bath while my husband held my hand as I was stitched up. She also was at our house the day after we came home to help assist me with latching our daughter to breastfeed.

I really cannot sing high enough praise for Katrina. I will definitely have her present at our next delivery!!

Katrina was a great fit for our family. Her natural approach to childbirth and extensive knowledge were great assets to my wife’s experience with unmedicated birth. She was approachable throughout the whole process for any questions and concerns, and at the end she was effective in guiding my wife – and myself – step-by-step through her labor pains. We’re very pleased with her work.

Katrina is AMAZING!!

First, she’s a sweetheart. From the first conversation you have with her, you feel like you’re best friends. It’s comfortable talking to her about anything! Including tips on how not to “you know what” on the bed while pushing baby out. She has an effective trick for that!

Second, she’s not judgmental or pushy with her own opinions when it comes to what kind of birth experience you want to have. I had told her about my desire to have an unmedicated birth due to the fact that my first child’s birth had complications resulting from the epidural. My baby ended up becoming septic and we had to stay at the hospital for 7 days so that she could have antibiotics administered to her through IV. It was hard to watch her go through it all, I didn’t want to take a chance on the same thing happening to my second baby, so I decided to go epidural free this time. Katrina was very supportive and inspiring in helping me stick to my decision. She taught me a lot about the effects of drugs during child birth, helping me understand better what went wrong on my first birth, but without making me feel judged. She was always easy to reach for any questions I had, and was a great coach when my labor finally began, guiding and encouraging me through the whole ordeal.

Even after delivery, she has been a constant support with breastfeeding advice and consult about my own personal recovery. She’s knowledgeable and helpful, and I’m so glad to have had her help on my second time around. You truly can’t go wrong with her.

If you are in need of a doula who will serve as a true advocate for both you and your spouse, look no further. With her wealth of knowledge and unwavering support, Katrina and her team are simply unparalleled. We cannot recommend her services highly enough!

XO
